‘Tis the Season of Giving: Your Guide to Giving Tuesday

The holidays are a crazy time between work, traveling, catching up with old friends and family, and of course, the massive gift list. Even though there is so much to do, there is no better time to put the holiday chaos aside and give back to your community than on November 30th, Giving Tuesday.

What is #GivingTuesday?

After the sales of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday, on Nov 30th 2021, is a time to celebrate & encourage activities that support charities and nonprofits.

Whether it’s making a donation, volunteering time, helping a neighbor, or spreading the word, Giving Tuesday is a movement for everyone who wants to give something back.

How Insert Name Here is getting involved

Did you know…

1 in 4 of our neighbors faces food insecurity.

Hunger affects old and young alike. Before the pandemic, an estimated 1 in 5 people in LA lived with food insecurity, but after the COVID-19 outbreak, the number of people needing food assistance has increased to 1 in 4 (over 2 million people in LA).  Due to the soaring costs of housing and transportation in LA, many people who work– even families with two incomes – often can’t make ends meet or put enough good food on the table, let alone provide gifts for their family during the holiday season.

This Giving Tuesday, our team has partnered with local charities such as Adopt A Family LA & Project Angel Food to support their missions to serve meals and share joy with those in need.

Any little effort you can make on Giving Tuesday counts, so here are some ways you can make a difference...

Give: money, supplies, or share your skills with your favorite charity pro bono

Donate: many charities rely on donations to operate or use donations to raise funds– see what you can spare for a good cause

Volunteer: not-for-profits rely on volunteers to help them operate– giving them your time & a helping hand makes a big difference!

Gift: for the holidays consider buying gift cards from your favorite charities as the perfect gift & sweetest stocking stuffers

Raise: raise awareness through your social media channels- like, share, post & repost to help your favorite charity get visibility online. You can also start your own goods or monetary fundraiser on their behalf

Reach out: support a neighbour in need. Send them a card, cook them a meal, bake them some treats, or give them a call to check in.

Shop local: It’s been a difficult time for small businesses and restaurants. Support those in your neighbourhood by ordering take out, buying items online, or visiting and buying from local shops.

We hope we inspired you to get behind your favorite cause for Giving Tuesday and be a part of something bigger!

Everyone has the power to make a difference, so make this year count, babes, and show an act of kindness. You never know what impact you may have on someone and could even change someone’s life. 💗
